Sophie is an Associate in the Employment team, based in our Manchester office. Having joined the department in 2017, Sophie has built a strong reputation for providing clear, practical and commercially minded employment law advice to clients across a range of sectors.

Sophie supports the team across all aspects of employment law, advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Sophie has particular expertise in complex Employment Tribunal litigation, where she manages cases from inception through to resolution, providing in-depth assessments of case prospects, drafting pleadings, witness statements and other Tribunal documentation, liaising with the Tribunal and all parties, and conducting settlement negotiations as required. Sophie is a key point of contact for technically complex advisory work, with specialist knowledge in holiday pay calculations and National Minimum Wage compliance, as well as day-to-day employment law queries. She regularly advises on employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance procedures and long-term sickness absence, and supports clients through business reorganisations, redundancy processes and TUPE transfers. Sophie also provides employment law support on corporate transactions, including share and asset acquisitions. Sophie plays a central role in the team's data work, managing complex data-related matters both within the team and across departments. She has considerable experience in data protection law, including drafting GDPR-compliant documentation such as privacy notices and data protection policies, and advising on subject access requests. Sophie has significant experience leading large employment documentation projects, having worked with numerous clients to comprehensively overhaul their employment contracts, policies, procedures and staff handbooks, ensuring clients receive commercially sound, legally robust and tailored documentation that reflects their individual needs and culture.
