Singapore
Established in 2024, our Singapore office marks a significant milestone in Trowers & Hamlins’ strategic growth in the ASEAN region and gives us access to Asia's leading financial centre. Our Singapore office enhances our ability to support cross-border activity and deliver both local insight and international legal expertise to clients operating across Southeast Asia and beyond, as well as supporting our clients in Korea, China and India.
Singapore builds upon the success of our Malaysia office and underscores our long-standing commitment to the region. By continuing to invest in our team on the ground, we offer a service that is responsive, tailored, and commercially aligned with the evolving needs of the ASEAN legal market.
Our senior team in Singapore draws on the strength of our pioneering Malaysia practice and our longstanding Middle East heritage to offer a distinctive proposition. We advise on real estate, projects and infrastructure, corporate, banking and finance (including Islamic finance), and disputes (in cooperation with Braddell Brothers, a boutique firm with the distinction of being Singapore's second-oldest independent law practice).
Our Expertise
Corporate
We provide a full range of corporate and commercial advice from complex cross border deals for Goverment-Linked Companies, to sales and disposals of businesses for high-net-worth clients and family offices in their M&A transactions, the structuring of VCCs in Singapore and onshore and offshore fund structures in other jurisdictions, as well as private equity investments and indirect investments through funds. Our corporate team brings deep regional understanding and experience from across Southeast Asia, the UK, and the Middle East. We offer practical, commercial and client-centred solutions.
Banking and finance
Our ASEAN team works in a fully integrated fashion and with experts across our network of offices to deliver advice to the full range of stakeholders in debt finance transactions. We have been market leaders in Islamic Finance for over thirty years and have been involved in, and continue to work on, ‘first in country’ and ground-breaking projects and transactions. We also have particular expertise in real estate finance, as well as advising clients investing into the UK, the Middle East and across Southeast Asia and beyond, including Singapore, Malaysia and the emerging markets of Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh.
Real estate and hospitality
We support clients with all their real estate asset requirements from acquisition, planning and development to construction, asset management, and financing. We act for master developer on complex mixed-use developments, and investment banks, pension funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals on regional and cross-border transactions involving residential, commercial and mixed-use assets. From urban regeneration to major infrastructure projects, and from investment and asset management to planning finance and construction – we work with our clients to build better environments and businesses.
In hospitality, we are well-versed in hotel management, branding, licensing and F&B agreements. Our experience spans landmark developments and projects involving leading operators such as Marriott, Kempinski, Hilton, IHG, Accor, Hyatt and many boutique and regional operators. With a strong understanding of operator sensitivities and regional deal dynamics, we help clients achieve commercially sound outcomes in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
Projects, energy and infrastructure
Our specialist projects team provides expertise in the structuring, procurement, and financing of major transport, power, and water assets across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. We work with sponsors, lenders, and public sector bodies from bid stage through to financial close, with experience across both conventional and renewable energy, petrochemicals, and public-private infrastructure. Our integrated team offers both project and finance capability and is well-versed in Islamic and conventional structures.
Dispute resolution
We have submitted an application for a Formal Law Alliance with Braddell Brothers, one of Singapore’s oldest and most respected dispute resolution boutiques. This alliance will enable our firmwide Dispute Resolution team to provide clients with seamless support on arbitration and court matters across Singapore, the wider ASEAN region, and key international jurisdictions. Braddell Brothers is renowned for its deep litigation bench and advocacy strength, and its lawyers are regularly instructed by other Singapore firms as lead counsel in complex hearings and trials. Together, we will offer clients an integrated disputes solution that combines international reach with local advocacy expertise. Braddell Brothers' work is consistently recognised by major legal directories including Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, AsiaLaw, and Best Lawyers.
