Technology

Advising growth companies, start-ups and established corporate entities (including financial institutions) and entrepreneurs, as well as public sector service providers – our experienced team understand the legal and commercial implications of how technology changes, transforms and is utilised in today's businesses.

Our expertise covers a spectrum of technology matters - drafting software licencing, data sharing and managed services agreements. We advise on matters involving e-commerce including website terms and conditions and privacy policies, and our data privacy and information law specialists advise on UK data protection legislation (including digital marketing), and internationally in line with local laws. Where we don’t have presence, we are part of the wider Interlaw network with lawyers based in over 150 cities worldwide.

We also cover technical IT disputes relating to performance issues with IT contracts – including those where we have involved forensic IT teams, and including IP disputes.

Our team have extensive experience in cyber security incidents (including crisis response, notifications to regulators and investigations), and also advise on pre-emptive measures that can be taken to mitigate cybercrime.

We regularly advise on defamation claims arising from comments made on social media sites such as facebook/twitter/Instagram/change.org and other sources (both for claims and defence) defamation actions generally.

Some recent examples of our work include advising on procurement disputes involving IT; advising a technology start-up on electronic signing technology in line with data privacy laws, commercial agreements with re-sellers of E-sign's technology and on the end user license agreements; working with a technology start-up on its agreements on the supply of financial technology to businesses and banks, and advising on general corporate, specialist data protection and commercial advice for M&A deals in the Fintech sector.
