With the introduction of the new English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, the government has ambitious plans to give the reins back to communities. 

Some of the key areas being devolved include skills and employment, economic development, transport and infrastructure and some aspects of health and well-being. There are many challenges ahead to carefully navigate through, such as funding commitments matching the scale of new responsibilities, support mechanisms and fair funding. However, if local areas receive the resources they need, devolution could transform how public services are delivered and empower communities to shape their futures, bringing regeneration to and growth to regional areas.
