International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised Birmingham City Council on the appointment of Lovell Partnerships Ltd as the developer for the £1 billion Druids Heath regeneration project.
The newly signed partnership, spanning more than 20 years, will support the transformation of the existing council estate through a significant investment and rebuilding programme. The regeneration is expected to deliver up to 3,500 homes, with 51% aligned as affordable housing, alongside substantial upgrades to existing council homes.
Lovell is a national partnership housing specialist who work with partners on a full range of services from land acquisition to building new homes. Lovell and the Council will work very closely to bring expertise, funding, and delivery in estate renewal to meet the needs and priorities of current and future residents.
Trowers advised Birmingham City Council on a range of legal issues including procurement, real estate, the partnering agreement, planning, construction, and governance.
Kerry Scott, Project Director for Birmingham City Council, said:
"These are very large and complicated projects, and we have been delighted with the long-term specialist support we have received from Trowers & Hamlins."
Chris Plumley, Partner in Real Estate, added:
"We have worked on this scheme for many years, and it is a privilege to advise Birmingham City Council on this very worthwhile regeneration. The commitment to delivering affordable housing, social facilities and decent homes reflects both the significance of the project and Trowers' dedication to supporting the public and housing sectors."
