How can we help you?

We've had a fantastic month of inclusivity webinars with our last session on Tuesday 20 July at 11:30 am where we'll be discussing including the offensive.

In this series of webinars to mark Trowers Tuesdays' month of equality, diversity and inclusivity we will take a deep-dive into how employers can use positive action to achieve meaningful inclusion in the workplace, and share great practice from a cross-section of employers, HR professionals and our own expert employment and pensions lawyers.

The Equality Act protects employees with religious or philosophical beliefs from discrimination because of those beliefs. But how can employers create an inclusive environment when, however genuinely held those beliefs are, other employees find those beliefs offensive.  Recent case law underlines the protection for employees to hold their beliefs and for employees to be protected from an offensive working environment.  How do employers manage employees with conflicting rights?

For our final session on "Including the Offensive" we'll be joined by Chris Milsom, Barrister at Cloisters Chambers.  Chris is an expert in this field having represented the successful claimant in the first Tribunal case to find that ethical veganism was a protected belief.  He is also currently working on cutting edge cases dealing with transgender rights and gender-critical believes.  He will share is fascinating insights into the fast developing area.

As always, there will be an opportunity to submit questions to the panel on the registration page. Please note, the register button will take you to an external Zoom page.

These webinars will be recorded. To see the full details of how this data is managed, please see our fair processing notice.
