Trowers & Hamlins incorporating Stones has won the Devon & Somerset Law Society (DASLS) Legal Award 2017 for Innovation, recognising the firm's innovative career framework, which opens up access into the legal profession to people from all backgrounds and experience.

In a ceremony that took place at a Gala Dinner on 2nd March 2017 at Sandy Park, Exeter, the firm was commended for anticipating the needs and aspirations of aspiring lawyers, by developing a dedicated career path for paralegals, by providing funding for training and qualifications, and by allocating trainee places for those in the paralegal ranks.

DASLS aims to be the leading local law society in England and Wales. They encourage and support innovation, integrity and leadership in the legal profession and provide a strong focus for lawyers in the region.

Partner and Head of the Exeter office, Joseph Acton said:

"We are extremely proud to receive this award for innovation. Our ambition throughout Trowers & Hamlins is to recruit, develop and retain the best talent in the legal profession, and we understand that the 'traditional' route into a legal career is not always the best route for everyone. The introduction of an alternative career path for paralegals is extremely important to us. Our innovative framework recognises the needs and aspirations of our current and future lawyers, and it's fantastic to receive recognition for it."

The travel team at Trowers & Hamlins incorporating Stones were also shortlisted for a DASLS Team of the Year award.
