Report show that number of black workers in senior positions has remained stagnant since 2014
Only 1% of the police force of England and Wales identified as black African or black Caribbean and no appeal court judges in England and Wales were recorded as being black. For those from the broader BAME community, only 10.3% of senior position holders identified as BAME, around 1% higher than the 2014 figure of 9.2%.
The report's publication coincides with Parliament preparing to debate mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting after a petition calling for its introduction passed 100,000 signatures. It's also worth noting that there's been a government consultation on mandatory ethnicity pay reporting which closed on 11 January 2019 (though the government's conclusions have yet to be published).
