A round-up of our ‘Summer of Inclusivity’ series, featuring an engaging lineup of inclusion-focused topics.
Across the four sessions, we shared legal insights and thought leadership on how employers can meaningfully support their employees and create an inclusive workplace culture. We were also joined by a number of fantastic guest speakers, who contributed valuable expertise and practical experience throughout the series.
Positive action and recruitment
For our first session, we explored what positive action means in practice, when it can be used lawfully, and the opportunities it presents for improving diversity and inclusion within recruitment processes. The session also considered the boundaries between positive action and unlawful discrimination, alongside practical steps employers can take to design fair and inclusive recruitment strategies.
EHRC Code and transgender issue
We looked at the key principles emerging from the EHRC Code, the practical challenges employers may face, and how organisations can navigate this complex and evolving area with confidence and sensitivity. The session also considered real world application, including the steps employers can take to support inclusive workplaces while managing legal and operational risk.
To support an honest discussion, this session was not recorded, which provided an open space for attendees to engage on this sensitive and evolving topic.
Menopause
As menopause action plans become mandatory for some employers from spring 2027, we discussed the impact menopause can have on employees at work, the legal and practical considerations for employers, and the steps organisations can take to create a more supportive and inclusive working environment.
Religion, belief and social media
For our final session of the series, we discussed the challenges employers can face when employees express religious or philosophical beliefs online, the legal protections that apply, and how organisations can balance competing rights and interests.
