The enactment of the Coronavirus Act 2020 resulted in the introduction of PD51Z which stayed all new and existing possession claims (except squatter proceedings) and the enforcement of warrants for an initial period of 90 days. This was then extended until 23 August 2020. This has caused a significant backlog of residential possession cases, which the Courts now have to tackle.
PD55C comes into effect on 24 August 2020 and provides guidance on how possession proceedings are to be dealt with until 21 March 2021. Amendments have also been made to CPR 83 which deals with the giving of notice for warrants and writs of possession.
In this webinar we will be looking at the changes made and providing practical tips to ensure landlords and their agents are well prepared and able to avoid any pitfalls when commencing and reactivating possession proceedings.
