Magda Kofluk
Magda is a Partner in the international construction disputes team and is based in our Dubai office.
Magda is a civil law construction disputes specialist with over 15 years' experience, 11 of which have been based in the Middle East, advising on multiple complex and high-value projects across the GCC.
Magda represents clients in high-value arbitrations relating to construction projects across all major industries, including power plants, highways, airports, mixed-use developments, railways and stadiums. Her clients include developers, contractors, subcontractors, government bodies, consultants and investors. She is highly experienced in arbitration proceedings especially under the ICC, DIAC and ArbitrateAD Rules, as well as in pre-arbitration negotiations and dispute board proceedings, and has a passion for the technical aspects of construction disputes and working closely with quantum, delay and engineering experts. In addition to her contentious practice, Magda has extensive experience collaborating closely with project teams on live projects to effectively manage and avoid disputes.
Magda also serves as an arbitrator and has been appointed on numerous occasions by DIAC and ICC serving as sole arbitrator, tribunal chair and co-arbitrator. She is included on the Saudi Centre for Commercial Arbitration roster of arbitrators and is one of the Next Generation Members of the International Construction Arbitrators Association. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary University of London and has completed the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy course for arbitrators.
Owing to her reputation in the market, Magda has received widespread recognition across the industry. She received an Honourable Mention for the LexisNexis Middle East Arbitrator of the Year 2025 Award and was shortlisted for "Arbitration Lawyer of the Year" at the 2025 LexisNexis Middle East Women in Law Awards. She has been listed as one of the Top 10 Legal Consultants by Construction Week Middle East, recognised as a "Recommended Lawyer" for Dispute Resolution: Arbitration and International Litigation in the Legal 500 EMEA 2024 and 2025 Guides for the UAE, and ranked as Up and Coming for Construction: Dispute Resolution in the Chambers Global Guide 2026. Magda is also frequently invited to speak at leading construction and legal conferences throughout the GCC.
Her experience includes representing one of the world's largest construction companies in landmark DIFC Court proceedings, in which an anti-suit injunction and committal orders were successfully obtained, as well as providing strategic advice to an international consortium on contract risk management for a AED 20 billion infrastructure project in the UAE. Magda has also represented a Middle Eastern sovereign government in a series of ICC arbitrations concerning a major transport infrastructure project, including a passenger terminal building in which approximately US$1 billion was claimed, and civil works encompassing a new runway and upgrade of an existing runway valued at approximately half a billion US dollars. Further experience include representing a Qatari contractor in an ICC arbitration concerning the construction of a motorway and advising on a potential dispute relating to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 infrastructure.
