Nicola Janus-Harris


Nicola heads up our Agriculture & Rural Estates team and is a Partner in our Real Estate department. She is a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and advises on all aspects of agricultural property including: freehold sales and acquisitions, leasehold transactions for landlord and tenant (commercial and agricultural), secured lending, wayleave agreements, environmental grant schemes, woodland/forestry and sporting rights. She also deals with mining leases, renewable energy (solar, hydro, biomass and battery storage) and Natural Capital.

Nicola is experienced in dealing with landed estates and acting on behalf of farmers and landowners in both the public and private sector. Nicola is based in the Exeter office but her team advises clients from both our national and international offices.

Nicola always takes a pragmatic and commercial approach and has played a key role in the development of the Agriculture and Rural Estates Team using her agricultural knowledge and connections to build up a strong reputation in this specialist sector. She is also a member of the Country Land and Business Association.

Recent work highlights include:

  • Advising on the acquisition of a 9,500 acre estate comprising of 12 farms (3 in hand, 5 AHA tenanted farms and 4 FBT tenanted farms).
  • Acting on an option agreement for acquisition of land to be used for creation of bat habitat.
  • Transfer of landed estate comprising of 10,000 acres with 44 registered titles and transfer of grazing rights over common land.
