Trowers & Hamlins advises global healthcare group on UAE expansion through Gentle Procedures Clinic

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised Pollock Surgical Clinics Inc. on its expansion into the UAE through the establishment of Gentle Procedures Clinic (GPC), a new specialist healthcare clinic in Dubai.

GPC will introduce the "Pollock Technique" to the UAE, a specialised, minimally invasive surgical method developed by Pollock Surgical Clinics' founder, as the group looks to bring its approach to patient care to the Middle East.

Trowers & Hamlins advised Pollock Surgical Clinics throughout the establishment of the new venture, from the initial structuring and commercial arrangements through to the legal framework required to launch and operate the clinic in the UAE.

The multidisciplinary team advised on the structuring of the joint venture and its operating entity, including equity and shareholder arrangements and the negotiation of the shareholders' agreement. The team also advised on intellectual property arrangements governing the use of the Pollock Technique and associated brand in the UAE, as well as employment law and agreements for key clinic personnel.

Issam Antar, Chief Operating Officer, Middle East, and formerly Director of Corporate Development & Growth Strategy at The Pollock Group, said:

"Launching Gentle Procedures Clinic in the UAE is an important step in our international growth, and we look forward to expanding further in the GCC region. Trowers & Hamlins provided practical, commercial advice throughout and their understanding of the UAE market has been invaluable."

Bill Jefferies, Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, said:

"The UAE continues to attract ambitious international healthcare businesses with specialist expertise. We are delighted to have supported Pollock Surgical Clinics in bringing Gentle Procedures Clinic to the market."

The Trowers & Hamlins team was led by Partner Bill Jefferies, supported by Senior Associate Shiladitya Majumdar and Associate Nayel Al Borshaid.
