How can we help you?

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has been named as a 'Significant Player' by India Business Law Journal (IBLJ) in its latest rankings of the world's top foreign firms for India-related matters, marking the firm's inclusion in the list every year since the launch of its India Desk.

The annual report, now in its 20th year, draws on IBLJ's analysis of more than 600 law firms worldwide to determine the foremost foreign law firms for India-facing work. The findings are based on extensive research and consultations with India-focused general counsel worldwide and partners at Indian law firms.

IBLJ highlights Trowers' broad range of clients on India-related matters, including Indian public sector organisations, private and non-bank lenders, and multinational banks with an Indian presence. Recent mandates noted in the report highlight the breadth and sophistication of the firm's India practice, including advising State Bank of India, India's largest public sector lender, on a complex structured USD-linked trade finance transaction for global commodities leader Trafigura, and acting for ICICI Bank's IBU GIFT City branch, part of one of India's largest private-sector banking groups, on a USD-denominated million multi-facility financing for Jindal Seamless Pipe Manufacturing, a company within the blue-chip OP Jindal Group. These mandates reflect the firm's deep expertise in India-related cross-border finance and reinforce its position as a trusted adviser to leading financial institutions and corporates on high-value, strategically significant transactions.

Feedback gathered by IBLJ from Ashish Gala, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of VentureSoul Partners, commended Trowers for having “a good sense of what works in an offshore context for India deals”, while describing the firm's Head of India Desk Debopam Dutta's “energy and commitment levels” as “quite impressive”.

Debo commented:

"We are delighted to be recognised by IBLJ as a 'Significant Player' in its 2026 rankings of the world's leading foreign firms for India-related matters. Having been recognised every year since the launch of our India Desk, this latest accolade reflects the depth of our India expertise, the strength of our cross-border practice, and the trusted relationships we have built with clients, financial institutions and business partners across India and internationally.

As India's role in the global economy continues to grow, we remain committed to delivering commercially focused advice on our clients' most strategic and complex matters. We thank our clients and colleagues for their continued trust and support, and in particular our exceptional team, whose dedication, expertise and collaborative approach have been instrumental to this continued recognition and success."

Paul Marco, Managing Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, added:
