International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has been appointed by South London Legal Partnership (SLLP).

SLLP is the shared legal service to advise the Royal Borough of Kingston and London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth. SLLP's philosophy is to explore new ways of enhancing service delivery and working practices by working cohesively across the five boroughs. SLLP hopes to work with its chosen law firms more cost effectively and to develop closer commercial relationships to alleviate increasing financial pressures.

Trowers & Hamlins have already begun work with the partnership, having been appointed for legal advice on a broad spectrum of areas.

Helen Randall, partner and public sector commercial expert at Trowers who led the firm's team on their proposal, comments:

"This appointment is really exciting, for us as it strengthens our relationships with the 5 London Boroughs and provides fresh opportunities to share our commercial experience to enable SLLP in their objectives of innovative service delivery to ensure the Boroughs can continue providing essential public services. Our local government, procurement, real estate and planning practices have been rated as market leading for many years and we are looking forward to working collaboratively with colleagues at SLLP."
