Further, the "new normal" is likely to see not only state support and intervention continuing for a period of time but also new working practices develop and become the norm – from greater use of digital and drone technology to replace traditional inspection and surveying, virtual meetings, a further shift towards use of Design for Manufacture and Assembly technologies, along with steps towards automation and supply chain re-engineering. A return to the "old" normal is not an option if productivity is to be maintained if not increased in an era of continuing social distancing.
