Michael Chilton


Michael is a Partner in Trowers & Hamlins' Projects and Construction department.   

His practice includes advising developers, banks, pension funds, local authorities, housing associations, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants on construction procurement routes, building and engineering contracts, professional appointments, warranties, guarantees, bonds, development agreements, agreements for lease and framework agreements in relation to development and infrastructure projects.

Michael is experienced in advising clients on most standard form construction contracts including JCT, NEC, GC Works, PPC 2000 and FIDIC. Whilst he mainly carries out transactional work, he also advises in relation to disputes and dispute avoidance.

In addition, Michael has advised on international power projects and also on several school and hospital PFI schemes for banks and project companies. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Michael qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and spent several years working for contractors as a project surveyor.
