Ian specialises in litigation arising out of accidents both in the UK and abroad, insurance disputes, insurance recoveries and professional negligence claims against insurance brokers.
He acts for claimants and defendants in personal injury cases but also has considerable experience in provision of legal services to insurers, advising on issues such as coverage and interpretation of wordings.
Ian regularly deals with claims in the Courts of England and Wales but also has considerable expertise in pursuit of claims in foreign jurisdictions. He has developed specialisms in cross-border road-traffic accidents and claims against tour operators. He has an interest in accidents involving animals and liability issues arising.
Having built long-standing and durable relationships with his insurer clients he has suggested and assisted with implementation of strategies to identify opportunities for pursuit of subrogated claims, providing assistance right through to conclusion. This has involved in-house training, which is regularly provided.
Ian's practice extends into insurance coverage disputes (acting for both insurers and insureds) and professional negligence claims against insurance brokers. He has advised a number of clients on business interruption insurance and the implications of the recent FCA test case.
