Our tribute to Catherine Hand
Catherine was an extremely popular and respected lawyer amongst colleagues and clients, known for her industry expertise as a leading housing specialist, when she joined the firm in 2006. She was with us until she retired March 2018.
Having worked on some of the biggest regeneration, housing and community related projects in the sector, and because she was equally adept in advising a group of community residents about the nuances of a regeneration scheme, as she was advising on the multi million pound property deal itself, she was known as one of the best all round lawyers, communicators and deliverers of highly complex and multifaceted projects.
Catherine was recognised in Chambers and Legal 500 directories as 'a highly experienced lawyer in the housing sector, with a strong background in public sector community projects and regeneration schemes' and for her ' broad expertise spanning governance, complex property transactions and care and support contracts.'
Clients described her as 'a very bright lawyer, with raw intellect,' 'someone you can turn to in a difficult situation,' and for having a ‘pragmatic, can-do attitude ensures that the most complex issues are satisfactorily resolved'.
She is described by colleagues as a supportive team member, a friend of clients and very much at the heart of the housing and broader real estate team. She will always be remembered for being a powerful trailblazer, uncompromising, passionate and impressive. The legacy of her brilliant work will remain a part of the firm for years to come, and the legacy of the projects she helped to deliver will be enjoyed by many living and working in communities around the UK.
