Amardeep Gill appointed to Aston University's Council

Amardeep Gill, Partner at international law firm Trowers & Hamlins, has been appointed to Aston University's Council.

As Aston University’s governing body, the Council, oversees the University’s development and assists it to fulfil its primary objectives of teaching and research. The Council is responsible for shaping the University’s strategic direction, finances, property and human resources and employment policies.

The Council has specific responsibility for approving the delivery and effectiveness of the University Strategy which sets out the institutional mission and vision, academic aims and objectives and identifies the financial, physical and staffing strategies necessary to achieve them.

Amardeep's appointment follows shortly after the news that Professor Aleks Subic will act as the University's next Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive.

Amardeep commented:

"I'm excited to join the Council and look forward to helping shape the University's future strategies to ensure students are able to fully thrive and prosper throughout their time studying for qualifications.

"Aston offers a broad range of courses relevant to a changing world whilst the focus on offering practical real-world experiences in the world of work enables students to develop their confidence and softer skill sets which helps prepare them for life after university."
