How can we help you?

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has elected Sara Bailey as Senior Partner, effective from 1st April 2021. Sara will be taking over from Jennie Gubbins who was Senior Partner for two terms spanning eight years.

Sara, has held a dual role at the firm since 2013 when she became one of the firm's Managing Partners, whilst also heading up its real estate practice. Similarly, she will continue her role as Head of Real Estate in her new position as Senior Partner.

Sara has been with the firm for over 30 years and has become renowned for her specialist work in the built environment advising on high profile public and private regeneration projects, partnerships and joint ventures. She is also well known for her dedication and passion to making a difference and in championing the demonstrable impact that businesses can have on people and communities in focussing on key issues such as social mobility, societal value and place making.

This focus is prominent in her vision for the future, placing people and diversity at the heart of her strategy. For Sara, success is about fully embracing diversity in a wider sense, what she calls 'true diversity' of thought and opinion for the firm's people and its clients.  She says this will be front and centre in driving the business forward.

Sara comments:

“I am excited about my new role as Senior Partner and I would like to thank Jennie for creating such a strong platform for me to build on. As a firm, we aim to be innovative and agile enough to grow and adapt, but most importantly to navigate our clients through the ongoing economic challenges that we are all managing right now. People are front and centre in our ability to do this. I want to continue the culture that already exists at Trowers, which is about nurturing our exceptional talent, harnessing diversity and embracing new ways of thinking, building strong relationships and making a real impact through the work that we do for our clients and in the communities we create."

Sara's appointment also marks a change in the firm's management team. As of 1st April, Managing Partner Adrian Carter will be joined by newly appointed Managing Partner, Paul Marco who also heads up the firm's litigation practice.

Jennie Gubbins will remain at the firm once her term ends and will be taking on a new role, combining client work with external facing ambassadorial roles and continued dedication in championing women in leadership.

Jennie said:

"It has been a great honour to have been senior partner of Trowers & Hamlins for the last 8 years and I am proud of all that we have achieved together in that time. I look forward to my new role at the firm. Sara, Paul and Adrian will be a great senior management team and I wish them every success as they take on their new roles."
