International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has recruited partner Tom Calnan to its real estate team in London, specialising in UK and inbound investment.

Tom is a specialist in commercial real estate transactions and has a wealth of experience in the UK market including investment acquisitions and disposals, mixed-use development, hotel and leisure deals and structured real estate transactions, with a particular focus on the private equity sector. Tom also handles the real estate aspects of property finance and corporate finance transactions. He has a great deal of experience acting on "inbound" international transactions, usually for Middle Eastern clients on cross-border multi-disciplinary deals involving Middle Eastern entities seeking to invest in the United Kingdom and Europe.

A qualified lawyer of 17 years, Tom joins Trowers from McDermott Will & Emery.

Sara Bailey, Senior Partner at Trowers & Hamlins commented:

"We are very excited to be welcoming Tom to our partnership and the real estate team. Tom brings a wealth of experience and will undoubtedly be a fantastic addition to our market-leading real estate team.

Tom added:

"Trowers is an excellent firm and one that is renowned for its market-leading real estate offering, both in the UK and also internationally. The firm's deep, full-service UK real estate offering is extremely attractive to my UK investor and developer clients, and similarly the firm's well-established Middle Eastern platform presents a unique opportunity for me to continue to develop my client base of "inbound" clients looking to invest into UK real estate. I am excited to be joining the partnership and look forward to helping the team to grow and develop even further."
