Trowers & Hamlins partners with Apperio to bring real time access to legal spend data for clients

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has completed a project with cloud based legal spend platform Apperio, which enables in-house lawyers to track and analyse legal spend across their panel law firms.

Trowers Innovation and Legal Technology team focus on developing technology based client solutions that will save time, costs, and add value to clients. Trowers have focused on a number of different areas for their technology based innovation since the team was set up in 2020, including E-signature, AI/Machine intelligence and collaboration technologies. Data visualisation is a large part of this, to make certain information and reporting to clients easier to digest, at a glance.

Trowers have already invested in technology which brings data visualisation to their client portals, to see work in progress and matter status updates, including milestones, tasks, and KPI reporting. Apperio with its visualisation of billing data and work in progress in real time for clients is another step forwards in achieving their aims of making innovation practical and accessible to clients.

Apperio connects directly to Trowers’ practice management system to give in-house teams insight into time and disbursement costs across multiple matters, as it is incurred.

Head of Innovation and Legal Technology, Anna Browne highlighted:

"Apperio is just one of many ways we are using Innovation at Trowers to provide effective client solutions and improve our legal services for clients. Clients value the increased transparency, clarity and control on legal spend Apperio brings. We look forward to working more closely with Apperio to provide this service to more clients over the coming months."

Nicholas D'adhemar, CEO and Founder at Apperio commented:

"Trowers is demonstrating a focus on client service as they seek to add value for clients and address some of the key challenges faced by GCs, such as fee control and clarity. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Trowers and look forward to working with them to enhance this service for their client base."
