Trowers & Hamlins has advised Southwark Council on its agreement with housing association partner Clarion Housing Group to deliver 284 new council homes; 94 other affordable homes together with 228 homes for sale.

The Council is recycling under-utilised land and together with Clarion and the GLA, it is investing funds to deliver a total of 326 new council and other affordable homes.

This is the first wave in the Council's Regeneration in Partnership Programme which will contribute to the delivery of up to 1500 new council homes across the Borough by the end of 2018.

Paul McDermott, a partner at Trowers & Hamlins said:

"We are proud to have worked with the Council and its partner on this project to deliver a high number of new council and other affordable homes. The Council has underpinned its commitment to significantly increase the number of new Council and other affordable homes in its area with an imaginative use of its assets and a positive approach to working with housing and development partners."

Cllr Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration and new homes, said:

“In Southwark we are tackling the housing crisis head on with our ambitious commitment to building 11,000 new council homes across the borough by 2043, so far we’ve completed 350 new council homes with well over 1,000 more on the way.

“Some of these homes we are delivering and funding ourselves but to meet such an ambitious target we are also looking at different ways we can work with development partners to deliver new homes on pockets of council-owned land. I am pleased to welcome Clarion Housing Group to our programme and look forward to working with them to build new, top quality and genuinely affordable homes for our residents.”
