The Presidents of the Employment Tribunals in England and Wales and in Scotland issued the Sixth Addendum to the Presidential Guidance on employment tribunal awards for injury to feelings on 24 March 2023.
This outlines the following updates to the Vento bands (which have been adjusted to take account of the Retail Prices Index (RPI) measure of inflation):
- A lower band of £1,100 to £11,200 for less serious cases.
- A middle band of £11,200 to £33,700 for cases which do not merit an award in the upper band.
- An upper band of £33,700 to £56,000 for the most serious cases.
Amounts in excess of £56,200 can be awarded in the most exceptional cases.
The new bands will apply to claims presented on or after 6 April 2023.
