Monitoring mid-market M&A in the UK: 2022 survey report

Our annual report of mid-market M&A is now in its second year and assesses the mid-market dealmaking landscape between September 2021 and August 2022.

While a potential slowdown may materialise thanks to economic uncertainty, there is capital to be spent and any slowdown will likely be short-lived. Over 80% of dealmakers we surveyed told us that they are eyeing opportunities in UK mid-market.

Mergers and Acquisitions

In this second instalment of the annual mid-market M&A survey report into dealmaking activity and trends our corporate lawyers focused on how corporate growth and economic health are impacting – and being impacted by – the M&A mid-market.

We have spoken with expert voices from the business, private equity and advisory worlds to gather a range of views on how these trends are playing out and what the near-term future holds.

The report also provides commentary on the key themes in M&A dealmaking in the UK mid-market including:

• 2023 M&A market outlook.
• Advice for sellers looking to exit.
• Why dealmaking can go wrong.
• The role of technology in M&A transactions.

In early 2023, we will release subsequent findings and analysis related specifically to where the dealmaking community stands on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, as well as taking a closer look at diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) in M&A.

If you would like to discuss any of the data or themes in this report please email Dan Fletcher who will put you in touch with the relevant corporate M&A representative.
