Top 40 law firm Trowers & Hamlins has been ranked the number one firm by percentage of revenue derived from real estate work in The Lawyer Global Real Estate 50 report 2019.

The report ranks firms by the number of partners that spend more than 50 per cent of their time working on matters in, or related to, the real estate sector.

For the first time, this year it also includes a new metric which ranks firms by the proportion of firm-wide revenue these partners generate from the full range of work directly related to the real estate sector. This includes real estate finance, corporate real estate and litigation.

The Lawyer said: "Trowers’ catapulting into the 2019 report reveals a determination to make its name as a serious real estate player."

"The firm's sharp focus on real estate, notably areas such as public sector and social housing as well as its Middle East investment practice, boosts it to the top of the charts in terms of the proportion of firm-wide revenue property represents."

Trowers' head of real estate, Sara Bailey said:

"Our dedication to improving our built environment and helping our clients to create sustainable places is reflected in this ranking and demonstrates the hard work of our teams globally. Our focus on the emerging issues and themes in the market have proven to be a source of inspiration for clients and we're delighted that our forward thinking approach to real estate is recognised in this report."
