Webinar: Private residential development briefing – Office to residential conversions

The fallout from the pandemic has affected every aspect of the working arena and many cities were left deserted as workers remained at home.

The proposal to utilise under used commercial space to repurpose for flexible working has been discussed, but the proposal to convert to residential to provide housing within city centres is also gathering pace. As an example, The City of London Corporation have recently been reported to be considering how they plan to use a mixture of new schemes and refurbishments of old building to meet their housing targets.

A panel of experts shared their views and predictions on whether office to resi conversion is such a new concept, whether it would provide the answer to increase housing targets and what the future looks like for inner city commercial districts.

Speakers included:

  • Hamish Simmie, Associate, Savills
  • Symon Bacon, Development Director, British Land
  • Nigel Rawlings, Chief Executive Officer, Rise Homes
  • Jane Piper, Planning Director, Barton Willmore
