Webinar: business interruption insurance – to claim or not to claim

We recently held a webinar for businesses with guest speakers from 3PB and Grant Thornton.

Following the outbreak of Covid-19, urgent clarification was needed from the Courts as to the extent to which policy wording would respond to business interruption losses sustained as a result of the pandemic.

We had Neil Fawcett, a barrister at 3PB and Fred Brown, a Director in the forensic and investigations team at Grant Thornton on the panel to discuss business interruption insurance and what you need to know about policies.

The key takeaways were:

  • Ensure you have a full copy of your policy
  • Identify – the policy period, the type of cover, quantum clauses, limits on liability and notice provisions
  • Produce a narrative of what you have lost – pull together management accounts, supporting evidence and invoices, proof of government grants, mitigation steps
  • Seek professional advice
