In Dame Judith Hackitt's Building a Safer Future report published in 2018, a more rigorous approach to accountability is recommended which places a much greater responsibility on those responsible for design, construction, management, maintenance, and occupation of buildings within the scope of the legislation to demonstrate how they are managing fire and structural safety risks to their buildings. This has been reflected in the draft Building Safety Bill and detailed in the "Setting the Bar" report published by the Construction Industry Council.

Our next webinar series will explore each of the duty-holders and involved persons recommended in the new regime with key and sector-leading external speakers, looking at the roles and responsibilities, challenges and the importance of each duty-holder and involved persons.

This webinar will look at the in-occupation phase – exploring the role and responsibilities of the Accountable Person, Building Safety Manager and the Resident.

Speakers

  • Debbie Larner, Head of Practice, CIH
  • Andy Frankum, Head of Health and Safety Policy, Paradigm Housing
  • Darren Hartley, Chief Executive of the TAROE Trust
  • Chair: Rebecca Rees, Partner, Trowers & Hamlins
