International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised SNG on the next phase of construction for the delivery of 84 affordable homes at St Mary’s, Midanbury Lane, Southampton.
Leading housebuilder Thakeham will build the homes on SNG’s behalf, of which 42 will be for social rent and available to people on Southampton City Council’s housing register. A further 42 shared ownership homes will offer opportunities for those looking to get on the housing ladder through part buy, part rent.
All homes will be designed to meet SNG’s Homes and Place Standard, with the development blending city living with green spaces and nature. It will also include parking, landscaping and play areas. Work is due to start on site in April.
Trowers advised on the construction documentation for the scheme.
James Huckstep, Partner in the Projects and Construction team at Trowers, commented:
"We are pleased to have supported Sovereign Network Group on the construction documentation for this important affordable housing scheme in Southampton. Developments such as this play a vital role in increasing the supply of high-quality, affordable homes, and we look forward to seeing the project progress on site."
Jenny Grote, SNG’s Land and New Business Director – South, said:
“We are really excited to be starting on site in the next few months on this fantastic scheme, which will deliver good-quality, affordable homes. There is currently a wait of more than 10 years for a family house in Southampton, so this development will provide a much-needed boost to the city’s supply of affordable homes."
The Trowers team was led by Partner James Huckstep, who was supported by Associate James Turner.
