Private rented sector and Build to Rent

Private rented sector and Build to Rent

We advise private and public bodies in relation to opportunities in the private rented sector

The private rented sector (PRS) continues to grow and develop at pace in the UK as new models for long term residential rented homes play an increasingly important part in meeting the need for new homes.  Large scale PRS has long formed part of the housing market in many countries, for example, in the Middle East we have been involved in delivering substantial PRS schemes over the last forty years.  Now that the Build to Rent (BTR) market is established in the UK, growth of the PRS stock in general is set to continue as a shortage of homes and a growing population makes it difficult for people to buy a home of their own.

With a portfolio of experience from establishing ground breaking new models, converting non-residential accommodation into homes to integrating BTR into the wider strategy of a major regeneration project we are a market leader in delivering homes for rent.

Our clients include private developers, investors, local authorities, housing associations and contractors advising on schemes of all shapes and sizes including some of the largest in the UK.  We advise on funding including bank finance, equity investment and Government funding schemes, such as the Build to Rent Fund as well as institutional and private equity investment from the UK, Middle East and Far East.

Providing advice start to finish from heads of terms, site acquisition and funding, through to practical completion we also advise on the all-important letting and management stage that is crucial to extract the most value from an investment.  Our in-house tax experts assist clients in creating a tax efficient structure and our planning and environmental experts help avoid unexpected challenges and costs.

With extensive experience of advising both the private and public sectors, we have experience from "both sides of the table" and in particular ensure our clients have an early understanding of the primary drivers of their counterparty ensuring an efficient transaction.
