Health & Social Care

Our specialist cross-sector health and social care team has the depth of experience, the energy and the commitment to deliver a first-class legal service

With people living longer and those with disabilities being supported to live fuller lives, health and social care is of increasing importance to society.  The sector is highly specialised, closely regulated, politically sensitive and socially emotive and faces significant challenges to address growing demand from an ageing population, social expectations for older and disabled people and for the meeting of health needs generally. Ever-increasing challenges around public funding mean this is no easy task.

To genuinely deliver in this sector you will need lawyers who understand sector organisations and regulators, whether dealing with NHS or privately funded healthcare, social care, mental health, older people, working age people with physical, learning or other disabilities, those with acquired injuries, children and adult services. Our sector-based team provides a coordinated service to housing providers whose businesses intersect with the provision of care services.  We are at the forefront of new initiatives in areas such as creating better links between the NHS and the housing sector, extra care and retirement living and new service models to reduce NHS delayed transfers of care.

Understanding the direction of travel in the sector takes an understanding of all of the constituent parts making it up and the ability to converse with them.  We are very strongly connected with each of these parts and meet their representatives regularly to discuss strategy and delivery.  We use our unique cross-sector client and contact base to drive new conversations and new thinking, joining up organisations and people with ideas that can create change.  Our aim is not just to participate in the market but to play our part in shaping it, using our wide-ranging connections in the sector, and the ideas we see from our work outside of it, to bring people and new thinking together.
