Niall McMorrow

Managing Associate โ€“โ€“โ€“ Bahrain

Niall is a managing associate in our International Banking and Finance department. He advises banks and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated structures on both domestic and cross-border financings. Niall has a broad financing background, having advised on real estate, asset, trade and leveraged finance facilities. He also has significant Islamic finance experience and has dealt with all the major forms of Islamic finance and investment including Wakala, Istisna'a, Ijara, Mudaraba, Musharaka and Sukuk. More recently he has been involved in significant capital markets transactions and corporate restructurings. 

Niall is currently based in our Bahrain office and has practiced in the Middle East for over 6 years. Prior to joining Trowers & Hamlins Niall worked in the London office of Hogan Lovells. He recently spent 12 months working on secondment at Kuwait Finance House B.S.C. (an Islamic bank offering both retail and commercial services).

Niall has contributed articles to Banker Middle East, Financier Worldwide and Islamic Finance News.

Representative Experience:

  • Advising the project sponsor on the restructuring and work-out of a US$190million landmark Sukuk project in Bahrain.
  • Acting for the lead manager and underwriter on the first ever capital markets transaction authorised under the Offering of Securities Module (CBB Rulebook - Volume 6, Capital Markets).
  • Advising Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company on its entry into a US$ 500million revolving credit facility.
  • Acting for the administrator on the US$3 billion restructuring of a high-profile Bahrain-based financial institution. Negotiating syndicated credit facilities to be made available by creditors to meet the ongoing costs of the administration.
  • Advising Citibank NA (New York) on the provision of aircraft financing facilities to 3 US borrowers.
