Ned Beale is a partner in the London office of Trowers & Hamlins LLP, a 150 partner law firm headquartered in London with 10 offices in the UK, the Middle East and Malaysia.

He specializes in complex commercial disputes and regulatory advice. Ned and his team are recommended by The Legal 500 for commercial disputes, which describes them as "excellent; the practice has a powerful work ethic and achieves the best results".

Ned handles the full range of commercial disputes, including contractual claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, warranty, earn out and other corporate disputes, disputes in the manufacturing, engineering and TMT sectors typically with heavy technical aspects, banking and financial services litigation, professional negligence, trusts and probate litigation and insolvency and contentious restructuring.  Much of his work has an international dimension.

Ned has extensive experience in all divisions of the High Court and at appellate level. Personal recommendations include The Legal 500 for Commercial Litigation "excellent" (2015), “recommended” (2016) and "a keen eye for the commercial, common sense of a claim" (2017). Alongside formal proceedings, Ned frequently deploys mediation and other forms of ADR.

Ned regularly acts in international arbitration, including before ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc tribunals. Personal recommendations include The Legal 500 for International Arbitration "first-rate" (2015), “fights extremely hard” (2016) and "focused on solutions" (2017). Ned sits as an arbitrator and is a member (MCIArb) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the LCIA.

Ned also deals with urgent injunctive relief, allegations of fraud and internal investigations. As one of his firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officers, he advises his own firm and its clients on managing risk. A current focus is advising governmental and private sector clients on the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.

Ned has substantial in-house experience through roles with Royal Mail Plc, St Paul Travelers, Inc and Octopus Publishing Group Ltd. He frequently works closely with clients to manage major disputes both before and after the commencement of formal proceedings. Recent client recommendations include "the outcome was certainly a success" – Chief Operating Officer, US energy company and "a very successful outcome on a high profile investment" – Portfolio Director, UK private equity house.

Ned is immediate past president of the Litigation Commission of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats. He recently lectured at the UCL Centre for Ethics & Law and at LCIA, ABA and AIJA conferences.  He teaches a class on international arbitration at City University, London.

Ned writes for The Guardian newspaper on legal topics. He has a longstanding interest in access to justice and consumer law, including acting as Honorary Legal Adviser at Camden Citizens Advice.
