Ned Beale is a partner in the London office of Trowers & Hamlins LLP, a 150 partner law firm headquartered in London with 10 offices in the UK, the Middle East and Malaysia.

He specialises in complex commercial disputes and regulatory advice. Ned and his team are recommended by The Legal 500 2018 as "top-level lawyers who are experienced at dealing with complex, high-value litigation".

Ned handles the full spectrum of commercial disputes. That include contractual claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, warranty, earn-out and other corporate disputes, banking and financial services litigation, aviation disputes, including acting for airlines and lessors, disputes in the manufacturing, engineering and TMT sectors typically with heavy technical aspects, professional negligence claims and trusts litigation. Much of his work has an international dimension.

Ned has extensive experience in all divisions of the High Court and at all appellate level.  In 2019, he represented the All Party Parliamentary Group on Fair Business Banking in its successful intervention in Sevilleja v Marex UKSC 2018/0178, the first ever intervention by Members of Parliament in the Supreme Court.  Personal recommendations include The Legal 500 for Commercial Litigation "excellent" (2015), “recommended” (2016), "a keen eye for the commercial, common sense of a claim" (2017) and "instrumental in steering litigation through procedural complexities" (2018).  Ned is solutions focussed and frequently deploys mediation and other forms of ADR alongside formal proceedings. 

Ned leads Trowers' international arbitration team.  He regularly appears in international arbitration, including before ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc tribunals. Personal recommendations include The Legal 500 for International Arbitration "first-rate" (2015), “fights extremely hard” (2016), "focused on solutions" (2017) and "Beale and his team are able to navigate international arbitrations efficiently and diligently" (2018).  Ned sits as an arbitrator. He is a Fellow (FCIArb) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the LCIA and the CEDR Commercial Arbitrators panel.

Ned also deals with urgent injunctive relief, allegations of fraud and internal investigations. As one of his firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officers, he advises his own firm and its clients on the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.

The Legal 500 2018 recommends Ned for civil fraud as "flexible, realistic, hard-working and has excellent judgment".  Ned frequently manages litigation in the UK and internationally to safeguard and recover his clients' assets.  He also has significant experience on the defendant side, for example acting for the lead defendant in the lead UK Madoff litigation Madoff Securities v Raven & Ors [2011] EWHC 3102 (Comm).

Ned has lectured at the UCL Centre for Ethics & Law and at LCIA and ABA-SIL conferences.  He teaches a class on international arbitration at City University, London. He is a past president of the Litigation Commission of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats.
