Associate โ€“โ€“โ€“ Oman

Lydia is an associate in Trowers & Hamlins' Oman office.  Lydia has been with the firm since 2014, having joined the Oman office in 2016 from Trowers in the UK.  Lydia has extensive energy and projects, project finance, debt finance and broad-based finance experience in the GCC, the wider Middle East region and the UK, and acts for a variety of private and public sector clients on projects and project advisory work as well as for issuers, lenders and borrowers in relation to capital markets and finance transactions.

Lydia specialises in advising developers and off-takers on power and water projects across the Middle East and has particular experience in regional project finance.  Lydia works extensively on energy and infrastructure projects, downstream and upstream oil and gas operations and has a varied of background of transactional and project advisory work.  Lydia has significant experience acting for financial institutions and high-end borrowers on a range of conventional and Islamic finance, debt restructuring and capital market transactions.

Lydia has experience drafting, negotiating and interpreting LMA-based facility agreements, capital markets documentation, corporate guarantees as well as joint operating agreements, exploration and production sharing agreements, concession agreements, natural gas sale agreements, power purchase agreements, water sale and purchase agreements, project finance documents, the FIDIC suite of contracts and other major construction contracts including EPC turnkey and design and build, the Oman Standard Conditions of Contract, operation and maintenance agreements, long term service agreements, consultancy appointments, warranties, performance bonds, pre-construction service agreements and novation agreements.

Lydia is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of International Arbitrators, sits on the board of the Omani British Lawyers' Association and is fluent in French.  Lydia often contributes to thought leadership pieces, examples of which being regulatory updates regarding sanctions compliance and alerts in relation to oil price and the impact on the regional projects and construction sector.  Lydia has contributed to the launch of landmark events in the Oman legal market through her involvement with the Omani British Lawyers' Association, such as the Oman Ministry of Legal Affairs Commercial Law Update and the annual LexisNexis Oman Business Law Forum.
