James Ioannou


James is a third seat Trainee Solicitor currently sat in the Banking and Finance department.

James is based in the London office. James is currently gaining experience in finance matters with a particular focus on loan arrangements for the purposes of the acquisition,  development or re-financing of real estate.

In his first seat, James sat in our Real Estate department (Investment and Development) and worked with a wide range of developers, private corporations and investment vehicles covering all aspects of property. In particular, James dealt with complex transactional work including the acquisition and subsequent development of large property sites; advising in relation to JV property development deals; and M&A/private sell-off transactions.

In his second seat, James sat in our International department in the Oman office. James worked on a broad range of matters ranging from corporate transactions to natural energy and infrastructure projects, but had a particular focus on international finance (covering both conventional and Islamic). James' experience in Oman brought with it a breadth of experience in international finance, including: acting for Middle Eastern lenders on several conventional bilateral and syndicated facility transactions; acting for Middle Eastern lenders on several Islamic facilities including commodity Murabaha and Ijarah; acting for both listed and non-listed Middle Eastern issuers and arrangers on the issuance of Sukuk; and also providing advice in relation to financial regulatory issues covering Fintech, P2P platforms and a bank's terms and conditions.
