Chris Hourihan


Christopher specialises in all aspects of residential development and regeneration projects. He acts for a diverse range of clients including developers, housebuilders, investors, registered providers, local authorities and other public and private sector bodies.

Christopher regularly advises on large scale projects. This includes advising Opal (Silvertown) LLP, a joint venture between Galliford Try and Metropolitan Thames Valley on the development of Silvertown Way, the largest development carried out under the Opal banner. He has also acted for Apache Capital on the acquisition of a number of the assets forming part of their £1 billion build to rent pipeline in their joint venture with Moda Living. This includes the Angel Gardens scheme in Manchester which will provide 466 apartments with a GDV in excess of £150 million.

He also acts for registered providers such as Vivid, Peabody, Silva Homes and L&Q on acquisition of development sites, section 106 units and affordable homes developed as part of regeneration projects. He also acts for Harlow District Council and the Royal Borough of Greenwich on their regeneration projects.

His experience in acting on all sides of the table allows him to consider and pre-empt common issues that arise on development transaction. He has particular experience in financing large scale development projects having acted on the financing of both Silvertown Way and Angel Gardens. He brings this experience to bear when considering the structuring of transactions where the intention is to secure third party finance.

Christopher is a commercial and pragmatic lawyer. He goes out of his way to provide solutions to enable transactions to proceed to the satisfaction of all parties. He listens to his clients and works to assist them in achieving their ultimate goals in the most efficient manner.
