Sarah advises on a wide variety of real estate-driven banking and finance transactions encompassing a wide range of funding arrangements including loans, group borrowing structures, capital markets issues and derivatives.
She has worked on transactions involving a range of asset classes including offices, logistics, retail, student accommodation, residential care homes and build to rent.
Sarah has specialised in advising Registered Providers on their funding arrangements for over 20 years. She has advised a number of RP groups on the process of obtaining lender consents and restructuring their debt in conjunction with mergers and restructurings. Recent transactions include public bond issues for Bromford Group and the Church of England Pensions Board, bond issue taps for Aster and Hastoe Housing Association, and private placements for Bromford, Phoenix Community Housing Association and Paradigm.
Sarah is also well known for her expertise in Islamic finance and heads up the firm's Islamic finance practice in the UK. Her experience of Shari'ah compliant real estate investment goes back to the early 1990s when she helped set up the first ever Shari'ah compliant UK property fund for The International Investor.
She has gone on to advise on the Shari'ah compliant structuring and financing of property investments in the UK and elsewhere for clients including Middle East and Malaysian Islamic finance institutions, UK Islamic banks and specialist real estate advisers working with Shari'ah compliant investors. She has also advised UK corporates utilising finance from Islamic banks. Recent work includes transactions for Apache Capital Partners, Rasmala Investment Bank and Rosette Merchant Bank.
