Christine Abou Assali


Christine Assali is a Senior Associate at Trowers & Hamlins' Abu Dhabi office. Christine is a UK qualified solicitor with over 10 years of legal experience across corporate, funds, finance and debt capital markets. 

Christine trained and worked in the City of London at major global law firms as well as in-house at leading investment banks before joining the firm in June 2019. Christine has also gained invaluable client experience sitting on the business side of a major investment bank.

Christine advises clients on a wide range of corporate and funds matters including structuring, establishment of on-shore and off-shore investment vehicles and related fundraisings, direct, indirect investments and co-investments, joint ventures and management-focused arrangements (including carried interests). Christine also advises on investment management appointments, ongoing fund and corporate operational matters, a broad range of commercial and contractual matters as well as related regulatory issues.

On the finance and capital markets' side: Christine advises clients on their debt issuances, derivative transactions across all formats, funding structures, repackagings of financial assets, synthetic securitisations, regulatory capital transactions and structured products offerings in relation to a wide range of underlying reference assets such as equities, credit, funds, commodities, commodity indices, foreign exchange, inflation and other rates, and across various product wrappers.

Christine has been involved in various regulatory reforms and has contributed to related industry initiatives. She also led the implementation of MiFID II's Corporate Governance and Costs and Charges streams at one of the major investment banks in London.

Christine completed an LLM at the LSE prior to which she obtained an LLB at Université St Joseph in Beirut, thereby combining civil and common law educational backgrounds.

Christine is also a speaker of Arabic, English, French and Italian.
