Trowers & Hamlins partner contributes specialist chapter to new construction book

Contentious construction partner Rob Horne has contributed a chapter to a new book called "Human Dynamics in Construction Risk Management – the key to success or failure".

The book was written by construction expert and chartered arbitrator Charles O'Neil and includes specialist articles written by 12 industry leaders.

Rob's chapter is called "Effective Contract Writing to Minimise Construction Disputes".  In it he identifies the principles that should guide the drafting of contracts by exploring disputes and issues occurring on a project to identify their root causes.

Rob is a contentious construction expert and a Chartered Arbitrator and adjudicator who has specialised in finding solutions to construction related problems for over 20 years.  He is the author of "The Expert Witness in Construction", published in 2013, and is a recognised expert in the NEC form of contract as well as being an examiner and tutor for both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Rob's practice is largely based on major projects within the UK and internationally across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and even advising on projects in Australia.  He has been involved in disputes up to a value of £250m all tending to be centred around complex engineering problems, significant delay and analysis of disruption caused as a result.

"Human Dynamics in Construction Risk Management – the key to success or failure" is due to be published in November 2014.
