Trowers advises Bath and North East Somerset Council on regeneration of Bath Quays North project

Top 40 law firm Trowers & Hamlins has advised Bath and North East Somerset Council on the £160m regeneration of Bath Quays North.

The project involves the comprehensive redevelopment of a six hectare site in the historic centre of Bath on the banks of the River Avon.

The development is expected to deliver around 200,000 square foot of new office space, up to 1,900 new jobs, a minimum of 70 new homes, a new basement car park and retail and food and beverage outlets.

Trowers advised the Council from the inception of this project. The firm advised on the design of the competitive dialogue process used by the Council to choose its master developer partner, including in relation to the evaluation methodology for variant bids, advice on State Aid in the context of local infrastructure provision and comprehensive advice on the proposed terms of the development agreement.

Tim Warren, leader of Bath and North East Somerset Council said:

"The Bath Quays North site represents the most significant office expansion in our city for a generation. By providing high-quality workspace we can attract and retain high-value businesses in the city, resulting in higher-wage jobs and improved opportunities for residents."

Scott Dorling, partner at Trowers, who led on the deal said:

"We're delighted to have advised on Bath and North East Somerset Council on a scheme that will positively impact the city, by regenerating a previously derelict area and providing a sustainable space where people want to live and work, becoming more attractive for residents and local, national and international businesses. We look forward to seeing how the project develops."
