Charities

A well informed and approachable team with the experience necessary to advise on all aspects of real estate

A charity's property portfolio often represents its most valuable asset.  We are able to combine our extensive real estate experience and practice with an in depth knowledge and understanding of the legal and regulatory circumstances in which charities operate including, in particular, dealing with permanent endowment and specie land, advice in relation to charity powers and compliance with the Charities Act requirements relating to land disposals.  We provide a full range of services to charities in relation to management of their property assets including acquisitions and disposals of land, leases, landlord and tenant issues, vires advice and establishment of joint ventures where appropriate.

We have particular experience in transactions where land being disposed has unrealised development potential or is hard to value.  We can provide advice on clawback and overage provisions sharing subsequent gains that may be realised and how to secure these rights.
