Education
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the UK government's key education initiative and Trowers & Hamlins has provided comprehensive and marketing leading advice to local authorities, contractors, funders and school governing bodies on over 15 BSF projects. Clients include the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Southwark as well as Wolverhampton City Council and Essex County Council. The success of these projects has been driven by our understanding of the complex nature of these large scale projects and local priorities.
In addition to BSF we advise on the Primary Capital Programme. We have advised on the first primary schools capital project for the London Borough of Barnet as well as the Academies programme, most recently completing the Walworth Academy for the London Borough of Southwark.
We continue to demonstrate our commitment to the sector by expanding our teams to support the delivery of these projects. We have established a dedicated education team in our Manchester office that has enabled us to support clients including Blackpool, North Tyneside and Liverpool City Council on BSF projects.
Our broader UK experience extends across the education sector to include innovative pathfinder and award-winning school and education projects covering community, voluntary aided, voluntary controlled, foundation, parent promoter, independent and trust schools. The team also has experience of other education projects and statutory processes including the closure or reorganisations of schools and new school competitions.
Internationally we advice some of the UK's leading educational institutions and private sector services providers as they expand their activities into new education service markets. We are accredited members of the Partnerships for Schools legal advisers panel and are also recommended by the independent Legal 500 and Chambers guides as experts in projects, local government, construction and partnering.
