Our specialist project teams have the depth of experience, the energy and the commitment to deliver a first-class legal service

Our Education team of more than 40 lawyers advises on the full range of school, higher and further education projects and services across the UK.

Whether it is establishing innovative models for providing education infrastructure, converting PFI schools to Academy status, advising on complex legal matters arising from the Academies Act, assisting investors on the acquisitions of private school or FE college groups, funding market-leading student accommodation schemes, or advising on governance issues and audits involving the EFA, Ofsted, SFA or other agencies, we consistently deliver practical and innovative solutions for our clients.

Delivering student accommodation projects for the University of Essex and the University of Hertfordshire (which was uniquely financed using a £145 million index-linked senior secured unwrapped bond) and advising the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham on its ground-breaking Cabinet Office pathfinder mutual project for school support services, are examples.

We've provided strategic advice on £2 billion worth of large-scale education infrastructure projects in the past five years alone.

Our clients include local authorities, educational institutions, sponsors, major contractors, statutory agencies, providers and governing bodies.

Successful projects require experience and specialist knowledge to understand the issues that can arise as well as the implications for the public and private sector partners often entering into long-term contractual relationships.  This has helped us assist our clients in successfully establishing fruitful partnerships to provide primary and secondary school facilities, including academies, free schools, studio schools and university technical colleges, as well as mixed-use, education-led projects.

Resolving governance issues requires sensitivity and in-depth understanding of legislation and guidance in this fast-changing sector.

Our Education team brings together the diverse specialist knowledge to provide the practical and innovative advice needed to deliver education projects on time and to budget.  We help our clients achieve their strategic educational aims, approaching each brief with sensitivity to stakeholder concerns and issues.
