The scale and range of projects under development in the Middle East has focused increasing attention on the need for properly structured joint ventures supported by robust consultant appointments and building contracts. It has also prompted a fundamental review of procurement models and highlighted the potential to obtain better value from main contractors and their specialist subcontractors/suppliers through early two-stage appointments. The sheer scale of construction work has also led to the creation of frameworks and alliance arrangements allowing clients to appoint and benchmark one or more contractors over successive phases of a project.
All these techniques are familiar to the UK construction industry and are an area in which Trowers & Hamlins has led the market, providing innovative solutions and advising on the delivery of many major projects.
