Pensions - public sector and social housing
We are experienced in advising in relation to the Local Government Pension Scheme rules, including the pending detailed changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme. We regularly advise on admission agreements and admitted body status in relation to the local government pension scheme and employees' benefit entitlements under the relevant regulations.
We also advise on the social housing pension scheme ("SHPS") which has been subject to several key changes over the last year. We regularly advise on employer participation in SHPS and employer cessation events and the triggering of employer debts in relation to SHPS. We are familiar with the SHPS benefit structure and liaise with the Pensions Trust, which governs SHPS, on a regular basis.
We are experienced in advising in relation to the Statement of Practice and various Codes of Practice applying to public sector and ex-public sector staff, for example "broadly comparable" pension schemes, GAD certificates, "bulk transfer" arrangements and "two-tier workforce" issues.
