Neale Downes
Neale Downes is a partner in Trowers & Hamlins’ International Department.
Neale is a banking and finance lawyer with a broad based finance practice. Particular areas of expertise include asset-backed and asset-based financing (including many securitisations), syndicated lending, Projects/PFI, Islamic finance, acquisition finance and other leveraged and structured finance.
Having spent some ten years in the City of London, he moved to Bahrain in March 2003, to assume the role of Regional Banking & Finance Partner.
He acts for a wide range of conventional and Islamic international and local banks and other financiers, including HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd., Ahli United Bank, Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Al Salam Bank, APICORP, Bahrain Islamic Bank, BNP Paribas, Global Investment House, Gulf Finance House, Capital Management House and Arcapita Bank and also regularly advises corporate borrowers, funds and institutional and other investors in the region.
He has also been regularly involved in the provision of advice to Islamic institutions, in relation to both discrete transactions and product development and standardisation of documentation.
He contributed the Bahrain section of “Global Financial Services Regulators” printed by Richmond Law & Tax and is widely quoted by both international and local press in connection with market developments.
Neale is a Leader in the field of Banking and Finance in the Global Chambers and Partners' Guide to the Legal Profession 2009.
