Merissa Martinez
Merissa Martinez is a partner in the Dispute Resolution and Avoidance Team. She was admitted as a barrister in Australia in 2001 and has ten years' UK experience. She specializes in avoiding and resolving construction disputes ranging from £10,000 to £320m under most of the main standard forms of construction contracts. She regularly instructs experts in complex extensions of time and quantum disputes and on questions of professional negligence and has performed the advocacy in several adjudication hearings. Merissa has particular experience of UK based transport and infrastructure NEC projects, such as airports, roads, rail and tube, including Section 2 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the London Underground network. Merissa has worked in-house on live projects and understands the commercial, practical and legal challenges of project delivery. She has provided risk minimisation and dispute resolution training to contractors and project managers and is the co-author of the 2008 Butterworths Lexis Nexis Encyclopaedia of Forms & Precedents (Building and Engineering) and the forthcoming Construction Adjudication and Payments Handbook to be published by Oxford University Press in 2011.
