Martin is the Head of the firm's International Department and has been a partner of the firm since 1988. He has a degree in law from the University of London, King's College and studied at the College of Law in Chancery Lane.  He is a member of Trowers & Hamlins' Management Board.

Martin has been involved with the provision of legal advice across the Middle East region for the last 25 years and has lived and worked in both Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman. He is a projects lawyer with particular experience of international projects and project finance; often acting for clients in the energy sector.  His experience also includes construction law, company and commercial law and corporate finance and he has run a number of high level project related arbitration disputes.

Martin has led legal teams on projects in the energy, petrochemicals, industrial, health, leisure and transport sectors in the U.K, The Gulf States, Egypt, Jordan, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. These include equity and structured finance transactions and PFI/PPP. Martin led the legal team advising on the first BOT project for private power in the Middle East (at Manah in Oman). He also led the comprehensive legal structuring and negotiation of the cross-border Jordanian Gas Transportation Project, (the first leg of the Arab Gas Pipeline) which includes the purchase of Egyptian gas and sale to customers in Jordan.

Martin provides supervision and assistance to many of the legal project teams run out of Trowers' international offices.  He also specialises in the development, drafting and negotiation of industrial scale EPC contracts and on occasions has led teams in arbitration and mediation for the resolution of construction and engineering disputes.

Martin is a regular speaker on the subjects of projects, project finance and construction contracts, particularly in the Middle East. He is acknowledged as a Legal Expert and a Leader in the field of Projects/PFI in both the UK and Global Chambers and Partners' Guide to the Legal Profession.
Martin is the British Chairman of the Oman British Friendship Association Business Council and he is a member of the Middle East Advisory Committee of International Financial Services, London.
